Solar panels and voltages on batteries

When solar panels are connected to batteries the solar regulator (also known as a solar charger) will be trying to charge your batteries during daylight hours. So before the sun comes up your batteries OCV (Open Circuit Voltage) might be 12.6 volt. But when the sun comes up the voltage increases to something above 13 volts and maybe up to 15 volts in cold weather conditions if temperature compensation is active.
