A Green Power Source
The sun is the most abundant source of energy available to us. Many New Zealand homes are exposed to 10 - 15 times more energy from the sun than what they use in gas or electricity. Solar panels (also called Solar modules) are part of a photovoltaic (PV) systems which harness the sun’s energy by converting sunlight into electricity, which is then stored in batteries and connected directly to your mains power board to supplement your power usage.
Did you know that when you connect a PV system to the grid (connecting the PV system to the houses mains power board) that when the mains goes down due to a power cut or anything similar you can NOT use the power from the PV system to run the house. You can only continue to run "off the grid" if you have a battery bank. Typically battery banks are wet cell but we are working hard on introducing Lithium to the market.
